YouTube wants our opinions.

(A copy of what I’ve sent into the www.youtube.com feedback)

Do you really want honest opinions???

Ok here it is. Your changes to your site stinks. I can do better than this & I suck so bad at making web pages/sites. Start thinking about your users and stop trying to alienate them.

First what’s with all the white space???

Oh and the only good things I can see of the changes is that I can see from the home page how many channels I am subscribed to & the search function for those channels. That’s it.

– We still can’t delete videos from our feed once we’ve finished watching them. Neither do they automatically delete.

– None of the recommendations match anything we’ve ever watched.

– When we search for things in general, videos from years ago appear first and not the latest.

– I still don’t see the point of having contacts instead of YouTube friends, if I want to talk to people on YouTube I’ll message them via their wall or something. I want to see what they are watching.

– We can’t see our inbox on our main page.

– It doesn’t show auto subscriptions.

– Videos are not going to subscription boxes.

Look I’m all for change when change is for the better. But I don’t know anyone who is happy with the last two different major changes you have done to this web site. Why can’t you go back to when things worked?

(By the way if you agree with all or partly what I had to say please copy & paste. Don’t forget to edit it to add anything else you might want to add, and post it to the YouTube feedback which now appears at the bottom right hand side of the site when you log in. Thank you.)

Fads

I don’t know why I do this. But I go through fads.

Now I’m not saying that fads are bad things. Just that I go through months working on one thing, then after a while, I get distracted by some other project then that project is all I want to think about. It’s my sickness.

I once wanted to make t-shirts, I bought all the paints that I could get my hands on (and they weren’t cheap), then another time I wanted to learn how to draw, so I bought all the different pencils and drawing equipment I could get my hands on. I also wanted to be a photographer, oh and another time I wanted to become a web designer. It’s crazy.

It’s like I can’t focus on more than one thing at a time. Which is crazy because when I was at school I was all about lots of projects at once, I didn’t have a choice, but now…

You know what fads are really expensive.
